Turning a Photograph into a 40th Birthday Invitation

A picture is worth a thousand words, as they say. But not all pictures are created equal. A good photograph of a birthday celebrant alone should be able to draw in the partygoers, more than a standard graphic of a cake or a gift box on the front of a birthday invitation! If you are looking for a memorable and novel idea for a 40th birthday invitation, consider using the celebrant's photograph on the front of the card.

Bear in mind, however, that there are some people who will absolutely dislike having their photo featured in front of their 40th birthday invitation! These people are often sensitive about their age, and may fear that their photographs will betray their age. Be considerate of these celebrants' feelings! Don't push your point, if you don't want the party to fall apart just when you're at the invitation-designing stage!

Still, having one's photograph on the front of an invitation is considered a classy touch. You may wish to bring up this idea and see if the celebrant is comfortable with it. If he or she is, you could go ahead and use your personal computer to begin the layouting process. For Windows-based systems, a program like Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Pagemaker or Corel Draw would be excellent tools for the task.

A celebrant may prefer a glamorous studio shot, instead of a casual photograph, so be prepared to arrange for one good studio shot. Or, a celebrant may elect to have one specific photograph used for the project - this would actually make your job as a designer easier, because you no longer have to search for a good shot! People will normally pick their best shots to use on important memorabilia, such as birthday invitations.

Then again, some celebrants are quite laid-back, and would prefer that you use a casual, even sort of goofy shot. This should be fine, too! Remember that your 40th birthday invitation should reflect the personality of your celebrant more than your personal preferences as a designer. A birthday invitation that properly captures the overall attitude of the celebrant is one that also gives its recipients a good idea of the kind of party they can look forward to having.
