Surprise Birthday Invitations - How to Keep It Secret and Make It Exciting

Making surprise birthday invitations often falls to the lot of the celebrant's closest friends. Since the party is supposed to be a surprise, then you must not expect any help from the celebrant. But there are ways that you can make the task fun and still manage to come up with a great set of invites. Here's how.

1. Get together a number of the celebrant's other friends and brainstorm on how the party should be held and how best to get the guests in on the secret without the celebrant knowing. You can discuss the best memories you have about the person who will be having the birthday and choose the best ones as focus of the invitations.

2. Invitations for surprise parties are often humorous. But remember that the humor should be in good taste. No matter how close you are to the person, there are just certain jokes that you must not use. Humor is quite a different concept from jokes. Just mention something fun in the verses that you will use in the invitations. If the celebrant is a serious character, maybe a poem can be used to describe him or her.

3. The design for invitations for surprise celebrations should represent the best aspect of the celebrant's personality. If he or she is the fun-loving type, use colorful and witty designs. A nice picture of the celebrant with other goofy characters can be printed and added to the invites. Or a cartoon character that best represents him or her, with his or her picture for the head, is a good idea.

4. For surprise parties, emailing the invites will be the more practical method. Ask the guests to send back an answer whether they will be able to attend and join the fun. And don't forget to remind them that it is a secret!

5. If you're not computer-savvy but a patient, artistic type, use your talent to make the invitations yourself. You can use colorful papers and design materials that can be purchased from art shops and even use cutouts from magazines and from pictures printed from the Internet. Whatever materials you choose, personally-made invitations will mean a lot to the celebrant and will make the event more special.
