Design and Theme Suggestions for Birthday Invitations: Match the Characters with the Celebrant

Deciding on designs for birthday invitations can be a bit confusing. You want it to be the best but you're at a loss for ideas. Or too many ideas are running through your head and you just simply cannot decide which to pick. Well, you might add these suggestions to your lists of ideas and see if you can then decide what to use.

Birthday invitations for adults
For the sake of uniformity, let's just agree that adults are those beyond the age of 18. In choosing the invitation theme for adult celebrants, consider the personality of the person. Is the celebrant a serious person or a goofy one? What does he like? What is his line of work? You can choose one of these aspects of his character and emphasize it in your design. Use drawings or pictures that best represent what's good about him or her and add a few happy words to complete the effect.

Invites for kids
The best options here are cartoon characters, superheroes and pets. These are the things that children can easily identify with. For fast food chains that offer kiddie birthday services, invitations are usually provided and they, of course, feature the chain's main character. If you are organizing the party on your own, choose your child's favorite television character or the cartoon personality he or she likes or the superhero he or she admires. For girls, dolls and fairies are often the preferred characters. Also consider the popularity of the character; choose someone that most of the kid guests will know about.

Invitation themes for teenage parties
Although some teeners prefer to dance the night away to celebrate their birthdays, there are still those who would appreciate a traditional party held at home or some other venue where everything is organized. There is always a chance that your teenage son or daughter will scoff at invitations and would probably prefer just calling their friends on the phone to ask them to come over, but you might still want to get those invitations ready. To satisfy your organizing tendencies and at the same time cater to the celebrant's snobbish taste, choose a trendy design that young people will not find cheesy. Search the Internet for ideas, ask for her or his friends' input or if you can manage it, do ask the celebrant for his or her opinion. You might be surprise at how much your teenager appreciates being asked for her opinion, particularly as this is her party.

Choosing themes and designs for birthday invitations will always be easier if the celebrant has a say about them. If you want the party to be a surprise, though, then you are on your own. But you can always ask for help - from friends, family members and even the Web.
